From organically and biodynamically farmed vineyards in Heathcote, this Carlei Estate Shiraz is a very impressive wine.
SUD translates to south which describes where the vineyard is located - south of Heathcote.
A dense and flavour packed Shiraz, the drive is certainly a feature. Black plums and dark berries sit in the driver's seat. Swirl the glass and let it breathe to reveal dark chocolate, soy, licorice, pan juices and brambly earth. A dusting of dried thyme adds value with red peppercorns and exotic spices on a long and drying finish. That length is captivating and offers plenty to chew on as the tannins showcase some powdery form. Snuggle up to this on a cool evening and you're set.
