This is the first time Kyberd Hills Wines have come across the bench and the Chardonnays and these Pinots have had a neat consistency. With seven years already under its belt, this 2018 Pinot Noir is the one I kept coming back to.
Perhaps I kept coming back due to the fact there is a bit of a Nebbiolo feel about it. Quite a contrast to the 2020 and particularly the 2021, some extra bottle age has certainly played its part.
Dried red cherries and dark cherries, red currants and rhubarb, a slight aniseed character tucks itself away. Earthy and savoury, twigs, pine needles, orange peel and burnt orange all add interest. Super fine powdery like tannins slowly draw moisture from the mouth. A serious wine for contemplation, I loved it.
