Succulent is the word that reverberates as I taste this Landaviddy Lane single vineyard Pinot Noir from Polperro. What a glass of sheer delight we have here.
Sourced from the Shoreham sub-region of the Mornington Peninsula, the site is on a south-west facing slope that sits 160 metres above sea level.
As with all the single vineyard Pinots from Polperro, this sees 30% new French oak for 16 months. The handling is the same with the point of difference each time being the expression of site.
This opens with dark cherries and strawberries driving the fruit profile. Pretty scents of dried rose petals captivate with aromas of pine needles and Negroni chiming in too. That latter slide into the flavour profile as an earthy and twiggy presence adds to its complexity. What elevates this Pinot is the silky feels - yes! Super fine tannins are feathered about with delicate exotic spices leading to a persistent finish. An excellent example of Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir, I loved this deluxe.
