Big, rich and oaky, this Pasha Shiraz from Curtis is unashamedly old school and I feel like I'm being dragged back into a time warp. From what I have seen with these Curtis wines, big and dense is certainly the house style.
Black fruits, cedar, rum 'n' raisin, sweet spices and woodsy spices take a stranglehold and over a couple of days of tasting no power nor intensity was lost. Despite this, there was a silky smooth presence which earned a big tick. But then a veil of warmth slowly blanketed the overripe fruit. Fruit bun spices and baking spices linger but it's the bulk and ripeness that have me stepping away. For the asking price, you can do much better, but granted, some folk lap this style up.
