"I want to go back and drink the Coverdale," were the words I uttered to myself after going through the four Pinot Noirs in the Polperro single vineyard range. Silky, elegant and right in the slot, it's the type of Pinot that oozes class and charisma.
As with all the single vineyard Pinots from Polperro, this sees 30% new French oak for 16 months. The handling is the same with the point of difference each time being the expression of site.
It launches with plummy delight with dark cherries and strawberries hot on its heels. A hazelnut tease with cola and a flicker of briar. The acid is soft but it still wants to make itself known. Delicately long, fruit bun spices add a delicious moreishness. Silky and slinky, this is absolutely delightful and I just wanted to drink a glass or two. And perhaps I just did... Big love!
